2025 Cooperstown

Each year, Algonquin Youth Baseball will send one or more teams to participate in the annual 12U tournament at All-Star Village in Cooperstown, NY. This is a highly competitive tournament against teams from all over the country. The purpose of the Cooperstown trip is to provide a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our 12-year-olds to experience the baseball atmosphere that is Cooperstown. Since many of the teams that compete at Cooperstown are year-round baseball club programs, Algonquin is not sending our team with a win-at-all-costs attitude. The league does not expect to form a team that will contend for the championship, but rather expects to form a team that will be competitive and will represent the league favorably.

Player Eligibility:

We will be finalizing eligibility in the next couple of weeks, however, in order to qualify for the Algonquin Cooperstown teams, players will need to have played in one or more prior recreation seasons at Algonquin Youth Baseball (or pre-merger for Northboro and Southboro Little leagues). Players must be 12U, and cannot turn 13 before May 1st of the tournament year. A player may only play for one participating Cooperstown team in that tournament week . In other words, a player that participates with an Algonquin Cooperstown Team would not be able to play for another team also playing in a Cooperstown Tournament that same week.

Head Coach Eligibility:

In order to qualify to head coach Algonquin Cooperstown team, the head coach candidate must have managed at least two seasons with Algonquin Youth Baseball, which include both spring and summer seasons.   Exceptions to this rule may be considered by the Algonquin Youth Baseball Executive Committee.

Team Selection:

In the next few weeks, our Board will be approving a policy to govern the team selection process. We expect that this process will be similar to our summer tournament team selection process. Factors likely to be considered are skill/ability, league commitment, sportsmanship, attitude, and availability. The goal will be to send multiple teams to Cooperstown with a combination of Northborough and Southborough players, if enough qualified players register. Please keep in mind that the competition at this tournament is exceptionally high, and we want to ensure the experience is positive for all players, coaches and families.

Cost:

The 2025 Cooperstown Club team registration fee is expected to be $1,900 per player. Parents are responsible for paying a $350 deposit once the teams are selected.
